The choice of shape depends on factors such as the nature of the rock and the purpose of the drill bit. In the following, Huang Hongfa Water Well Drilling Tools manufacturer will explain the characteristics of several common drill lips.

   1. Rectangular lip surface: also known as flat bottom shape, often used for impregnated drills. It is easy to process: it has a small working area, so the required drilling pressure is small, so that a higher drilling speed can be obtained under the same drilling parameters. However, when it reaches the bottom of the hole, there is a running-in process, that is, it starts to move slowly, and after it is ground into a slight arc, it moves at a normal speed. Secondly, its stability is poor, and it is easy to cause the borehole to bend. This lip is often used for drilling medium-hard and medium-abrasive rock formations.

  2. Arc-shaped lips: can shorten the initial grinding time, often used in hard, medium hard and medium abrasive rock formations.

  3. Concentric circular saw-tooth lip surface: also known as pointed ring groove shape, diamonds are mainly distributed in the tooth-shaped part. The inner and outer sides use a larger particle size to ensure the diameter of the drill bit. The tooth-shaped lip surface can create a multi-free hole bottom, which enables the drill bit to perform a combined crushing action on the rock by grinding and shearing to obtain coarser particles of rock dust, which is helpful for the cutting edge of the diamond and improves the drilling speed. Because the drill bit requires less axial pressure, it also has a better anti-deflection effect. The serrated lip drill bit is suitable for drilling hard, hard and dense weak abrasive rock formations.

  4. Stepped lip surface: There are many kinds of one, two and three steps, usually used for rope core bits and single-tube thick-walled bits. This kind of drill bit has better stability when drilling; there are more free surfaces when crushing the rock, and the effect is good, and it is suitable for drilling into medium-hard rock formations. At present, it has been used in hard and weak abrasive rock formations, and it has also achieved better results.

  5. Rock Button Bits tapered lip surface: This kind of drill has good stability and guidance at the bottom of the hole, which is beneficial to anti-inclination. Commonly used in rope core bits. The tapered lip surface can also be divided into inner cone, outer cone, and double cone.
