Even though there are some road signs for business in the UK, most road signs in the UK, its Crown dependencies, and its overseas territories follow European design standards. British traffic signs were changed in two steps to make them more like those in Europe. The Anderson Committee 1957 created a sign system with the first highway-building project. While it was in addition to the preexisting signage, the Worboys Committee of 1963 was mainly responsible for the road signage system that went into operation in 1964 and is still in use today.
