There are 3 world bosses in Diablo 4, each set in a different region. Since there are nice weekly rewards to unlock, it's best to kill them as fast as possible. Find out all the information about the Golden Curse in this guide.

Ashava the putrescent should have taught you the basics of how world bosses work in Diablo 4, but that was just the beginning, and she has two colleagues at the moment. It is a bit of a shame that there is not one per region, but you have to vary a little. They may arrive in future updates.

Avarice is a boss that takes a well-known theme from Diablo, and that the developers like to reuse: treasure goblins. We were able to kill them, then hunt them down into The Treasure in Diablo 3, in which Baroness Avarice was. When she was killed, she was crushed and devoured by her chest. This new boss seems to have a link with all this, since we find the famous chest. In any case, get ready to face a monster that loves bling-bling, an element that you probably have in common, since you will face him regularly to steal his treasures.

Position of Avarice on the world map

Contrary to what the beta suggested, world bosses do not have a fixed position. There are several similar large areas on the map, one per region to be exact, and these bosses can appear randomly in one of them. The boss that will appear is also random.

Hours and frequencies of appearance of Avarice

Unfortunately, we have not yet been able to confirm this information at this time. An icon appears on the world map, with a countdown, 30 minutes before the boss appears. This helps spot when a boss is coming. This section will be updated at a later date.

Fight

This boss lives up to its name, since all its abilities are tied to gold, as well as treasure goblins. Know that treasure goblins will also be summoned regularly during the fight. Killing them is entirely optional, since they will simply flee. Unless you have enough DPS to kill the boss well in time, it's best to ignore them.

It is a very difficult fight in melee, since the boss chains the blows in zone, while puddles of molten gold in Diablo IV are on the ground, and explosions will take place in all directions. It is really fundamental to have survival and movement skills so that you don't die on a loop.

It is much easier at a distance, even if it is not easy either. The most original mechanism of this boss is probably the presence of physical obstacles, golden pillars that will block the majority of projectiles. You will have to adjust your position permanently from a distance, to touch the boss. But we must be wary, since he will regularly blow them up. Try to stay in an area without pillars, or with open space nearby, especially if you don't have movement skills.

Avarice will regularly teleport into the area, do not stay in front of him, to avoid being trampled on. This also applies to its point of arrival. It's very frustrating in the scrum, which justifies, once again, a mobility ability.

The golden chest is one of the boss's main weapons. He whirls it around him in melee, or a few meters away. You either have to be under the boss or at a safe distance to dodge it.

His mace is his main weapon, he gives big and wide blows in front of him that inflict Vulnerability. He also projects a long shock wave in front of him. It's not easy to dodge, the damage is significant, and it inflicts a state of Vulnerability. Fortunately, it has a specific animation before using these techniques, it is possible to recognize and anticipate them with a little practice.

As often, the challenge of combat will be to maintain an ideal distance between the boss and you, in order to naturally avoid the majority of attacks, while being able to do DPS. At a distance, this requires not to be too far away. You have to be enough to dodge melee shots and chest shots, but not too much, to have a line of fire between the pillars and be able to dodge shock waves. In melee, you have to try to place yourself under the back of the boss, avoiding molten gold and explosions.

Rewards

In addition to the legendary items that the boss does not fail to bring down every time, you are also entitled to a cache of legendary rewards very generous when you kill him. But it can only be received once every 7 days. This is to encourage you to do the boss once in a while, without you feeling like you have to go kill him every time he reappears. You can go and get the reward with different characters if you wish.
