The parent company of Campusfood and menucuisine based in USA has
raised $50 million in Series E funding for its web and mobile service, which connects
consumers to restaurants and streamlines online ordering for delivery and pick-up.
Lightspeed Ventures is the lead investor in this Series E round, with participation from Mesirow Financial, Benchmark Capital, Greenspring Associates, and DAG Ventures.
The acquisition's terms won't be made public.
"Since starting menucuisine with my partner Mike Evans in his apartment in 2004, we've
sent over $200 million in delivery and pick-up orders to independent restaurants across the country," said Matt Maloney, co-founder and CEO of GrubHub. "We have
developed into the market leader in the online ordering field thanks to our unwavering
focus on offering diners the finest service and the most effective technology to
restaurant owners. Exactly for this reason, we are purchasing Dotmenu. By combining
our vast networks and Dotmenu's demonstrated competence in catering to the
collegiate market, we will become the go-to place for diners and eateries for all of their
online ordering requirements.
Through the acquisition, All menus will have access to 250,000 restaurant menus in
more than 50 major cities and countless college towns across the US, making it the
largest restaurant listing in the nation. In 2011, it is anticipated that the two businesses
will provide over $225 million in combined order revenues to independent restaurants, and they will work together to continue experiencing more rapid growth in the years to come.
