Not only Facebook, WhatsApp also collects data. The service offers a way to view WhatsApp account information - and this is how it works!

The request is pleasantly uncomplicated for users. To access the data set, all you have to do is start the app and select “Settings”. On iOS they can be found at the bottom of the screen, on Android the menu is hidden behind three dots at the top right edge. Then tap on “Account”. The menu item “Request account information” has been visible there since 2018. If you select it, you can order the data set for your WhatsApp account using “Request report”. According to WhatsApp, it will then take around three days until it is available for download. After it is available, you have a few weeks to download it.

WhatsApp: This is in the download

In contrast to Facebook, the WhatApp data download does not provide a comprehensive overview of all chat histories. So anyone hoping that the report will enable simultaneous backup of sent and received messages will probably be disappointed. Instead, content such as the profile picture, the system used and the WhatsApp version used are stored in the data. The report comes in the form of an HTML file that WhatsApp has packed into a ZIP file.

triggered a wave of indignation in 2018. As a result, the social network promised more transparency towards users, for example through the possibility of querying their own data. Facebook users can request and download the data set in their own account. This means they know exactly what information about them is on the company's servers. To upgrade WhatsApp to Android
