A brochure is a type of printed material designed to inform people about a product or service. It has been around since the early 1900s. Today, there are many companies that use different types of brochures for different types of promotion. The followings are some of the best techniques for brochure folding.
- Tri-Fold (Letter Fold) –
Fold the paper into three equal halves, with both edges inward and overlapping in the centre. Trifolds are ideal for revealing information in stages due to the way they unfold. This is the most typical brochure fold. The panels must be the same size. Aside from the usual configuration of 8.5′′ 11′′ (recognized by all publishing centres), you can also create the project in 11′′ 17′′ or even larger—up to 25.5′′.
- Half-fold or bi-fold brochures–
Simply fold a piece of paper in half. Half-folds are ideal when you require a lot of area for photographs or information blocks. However, be aware that it will most likely not fit in normal brochure holders. Brochures of this type are frequently likened to booklets. Half-fold brochures are among the simplest to construct, with two interior panels and a front and rear cover. Simply take a standard sheet of paper (junior legal, letter, legal, or tabloid size) and make a single fold while making sure all of the sections of the brochure design are equal. There includes a front cover, a back cover, and two internal panels where you may present all of your company, brand, and product information. The usual half-fold brochure size is 8.5″ x 11″.
- Z-Fold –
Divide the paper into thirds. The left side folds forward to form the cover, while the right side folds back, forming a “Z” design on the paper. Z-folds are excellent for encouraging clients to read the entire brochure. They must immediately open it in order to obtain the desired information.
- Accordion Fold —
Similar to a z-fold, but with an additional panel (four). Accordion folds look cool and make fantastic presentations, but they’re not very effective at remaining closed.
- French Fold –
Fold the paper in half, then perpendicularly. It should resemble a note you gave to a friend in elementary school. While French folds may not have a wonderful initial presentation, when opened, they allow for big, full-page spreads—ideal for promotional newsletters. French folds must be printed on only one side, which might save you money on printing.
- Double Gate Fold –
Both sides are folded in so that they almost touch in the middle. The paper is then folded in half, with the two flaps inside the central fold. Double gate folds are wonderful for impressing your audience. Opening this type of leaflet is like receiving a gift. You open it expecting to uncover useful knowledge, only to discover there’s much more buried beneath the inside flaps. The sizes to apply to vary: 8.5′′ 14′′, 11′′ 17′′, or 11′′ 25′′.
- Fold and roll
The Roll Fold is a Half-Fold tucked inside another Half Fold in a “rolling” action. This is an excellent choice for instruction books or tutorials. These types of brochures can make your company’s work more enticing. One should choose the type of brochure correctly to stand out and attract a lot of customers.
