Domenico Calcaterra MD is a renowned cancer researcher and cardiothoracic surgeon. His credentials read MD, Ph.D., FACS, FACC, FACCP. As an author, he has more than 3,500 citations to his name from other researchers. Dr. Calcaterra directs the Cardiovascular Surgery Program at UTSW Medical Center in Dallas, Texas. In addition to his role as Professor of Surgery at UT Southwestern, he is also the Director of the Heart and Vascular Institute there. Dr. Calcaterra's research interests lie in the treatment of cardiovascular disease and malignancy. His studies have demonstrated that invasive procedures like angioplasty and bypass surgery can effectively cure and prevent coronary artery disease (CAD).
